Mike Cerimele (Class of 1996) on his
induction into the District XI Wall of Fame!
Allentown Central Catholic's Mike Cerimele was a warrior on the gridiron for the Vikings. As a running back, Cerimele averaged an amazing 10.2 yards per carry for his career for Head Coach Jim Morgans. In addition, he played linebacker on the defensive side of the ball.
During the 1994 season, Mike helped lead the Vikings to a EPC and District XI 3A Championship. He rushed for 900 yards and had 130 tackles at linebacker. In his senior year of 1995, Cerimele again recorded over 120 tackles and rush for 1,300 yards as a fullback. He broke ACCHS's single season rushing record.
Mike was an accomplished powerlifter in high school, as well. He was a State Champion in powerlifting and established a PA State Squat record for his age and weight class.
Following his senior season, Cerimele was honored with All-EPC honors at running back and linebacker. He was Honorable Mention All-Sate as running back and received All-State recognition as a linebacker. He was invited to the Big 33 game and was recognized by USA Today as an All-American linebacker.
Cerimele continued as a running back at Penn State, where he was named Captain. Following his career with the Nittany Lions, Mike had NFL stints in Washington, Detroit and Tampa Bay.
